The Dallas Cowboys have signed another one of their veteran defensive standouts to a multi-year extension.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, safety Malik Hooker has signed a three-year extension worth $16.5 million guaranteed. The contract carries an $8 million signing bonus and a max value of $24 million, Schefter noted.
It’s been a busy (and successful) recent period for Dallas owner Jerry Jones at the negotiating table. Hooker’s new deal comes less than two weeks after the Cowboys signed All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs to a five-year extension worth $97 million.
The 27-year-old Hooker was drafted 15th overall by the Indianapolis Colts in 2017. After four seasons there, Hooker signed with the Cowboys in 2021 and was rewarded with a subsequent two-year extension in the ensuing offseason.
Hooker had arguably his best season in 2022, recording three interceptions, three pass defenses and 62 combined tackles. For his career, Hooker has 11 interceptions and 16 pass defenses.
