The Dallas Cowboys desperately needed to do something with Dak Prescott’s contract and they did so to get some immediate help for the team. It is being reported that the franchise has converted a $5 million roster bonus due Prescott into a signing bonus in order to create cap space.
The space added is $4 million, which will help the Cowboys finalize their recent minor deals that they have made this offseason.
Not only that, the move will also add void years to Prescott’s contract which will be extremely important as the two sides negotiate over what to do long-term with his contract, which is due to expire after the upcoming 2024 regular season.
Prescott’s cap number is now $55.455 million and the team will continue to carry him on their cap even if he were to move on after the 2024 season, according to Field Yates of ESPN.
