A surprise team in the NFC is reportedly interested in one of the premier quarterback prospects of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback C.J. Stroud is widely expected to be a top-four pick in this year’s draft. Stroud or Alabama star Bryce Young will be the first quarterback taken in 2023, with both standing good chances of going first overall.
The Chicago Bears hold the top pick, though many expect them to trade it since they already have Justin Fields. The Houston Texans pick second, followed by Kyler Murray’s Arizona Cardinals and then the Indianapolis Colts.
But here’s an unexpected team that reportedly has interest in Stroud: The Dallas Cowboys, who are led by a veteran Pro Bowler in Dak Prescott.
This is according to a report from Mike Fisher of CowboysSI.com. Fisher heard from a source that Mike McCarthy’s Cowboys are enticed by the Ohio State star.
“I don’t know the ‘how,”’ the source told McCarthy. “But (Dallas is) absolutely intrigued by Stroud.”
Plenty of teams are unquestionably “intrigued by” Stroud. But the Cowboys hold the No. 26 pick and simply aren’t in range to get Stroud. It would cost an astronomical price to move up into the top-four, and it’s hard to see Jerry Jones doing that.

The organization is committed to Prescott, and they haven’t given any indication about wanting to move on. Realistically speaking, Cowboys fans hoping for Stroud shouldn’t bother getting their hopes up.
