The Dallas Cowboys are gearing up for a busy offseason, as several of their big name stars are facing questionable futures with the franchise. Between their pending free agents and their tight salary cap situation, Jerry and Stephen Jones have some tough decision to make.
Three of the players whose names have come up the most so far this offseason are Amari Cooper, Demarcus Lawrence and Michael Gallup. All three are entering 2022 with question marks surrounding their names.
While none of their futures have been decided as of yet, ESPN analyst and Dallas Cowboys insider Ed Werder did provide some updates regarding all three players.
According to Werder, it seems as though Lawrence is the most likely of the three to remain with the team in 2022. Amari Cooper is the most likely to be on his way out, as they team continues to look into their options for the star wideout. Their final decision on Cooper could depend on what happens with fellow wide receiver Michael Gallup. Werder notes that Dallas is still working on a new contract for him, with hopes of having it done soon.
Based on Werder’s report, it looks like the Cowboys will be keeping two of the three key pieces to their roster. That should bode well for the team’s chances of repeating as NFC East champions.
As for Cooper, he’s already been attached to a number of possible suitors, including the New England Patriots, who are in need of a true number one wideout.
