The Dallas Cowboys could be set to take advantage of one of the most surprising available signing opportunities at this stage of the season.
All-Pro linebacker Shaquille Leonard is a free agent after clearing waivers following a release from the Indianapolis Colts. And, according to Cowboys reporter Calvin Watkins, the NFC East outfit will be hosting him this week.
“With Mike McCarthy saying the Cowboys have interest in Shaq Leonard, a source close to the situation says Leonard will visit the Cowboys this week,” Watkins posted to X on Sunday evening. “A specific date hasn’t been finalized.”
Dallas is in the market for a linebacker in the wake of a season-ending neck injury to Leighton Vander Esch. They also lost rookie DeMarvion Overshown to a torn ACL in training camp.
Where Leonard is concerned, he would have an opportunity to join a contender and possibly add a Super Bowl to his impressive CV after three All-Pro selections and three Pro Bowl appearances.
