Like every team in the National Football League, the Dallas Cowboys have to have their roster set at 53 players by 4pm ET on Tuesday.
According to a report from Aaron Wilson, Dallas is looking to boost its depth on the offensive line after they lost left tackle Tyron Smith to a serious leg injury. Smith is expected to be out until at least December.
“Dallas Cowboys are attempting to trade for New York Jets offensive tackle Chuma Edoga, per a league source,” Wilson reports.
However, Wilson would later add that the team is not expected to execute that trade.
“League sources do not expect Cowboys and Jets to execute a trade for Jets offensive tackle Chuma Edoga. Edoga is a former third-round draft pick from USC who has played in 23 career games with 12 career starts.”

The New York Jets selected Edoga in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft with the 92nd overall pick. Since then he has started 12 games for the Jets including zero this past season.
In 2021, Smith started 11 games for the Cowboys at left tackle. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 2 tackle out of 82 qualifying players.
