The Dallas Cowboys appear to be in a standoff with Dak Prescott over a long-term contract.
Prescott and the Cowboys are still said to be one year apart on a deal, according to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.
Prescott is adamant about a four-year deal, believing that the Cowboys could simply make it a five- or six-year deal by using the franchise tag. However, the team five years, which Prescott fears could be turned into a six- or seven-year pact.
According to Florio’s report, the Cowboys are completely “stunned” by Prescott’s stance, as they expected to have a deal done a long time ago.
If a long-term deal can’t be reached, Prescott will play out the 2020 season on the one-year, $31.4 million tender and the two sides will return to the table after the season.
The belief still remains that both sides will ultimately come to an agreement before the July 15th deadline.
