Dallas Cowboys fans have every reason to be confident entering their Wild Card matchup with the San Francisco 49ers. They finished third in the NFC with a 12-5 record, and they had the league’s number one offense, along with a defense that produced an NFL-best 34 takeaways.
At the same time, Cowboys fans also have every reason to not get their hopes too high, as they’ve seen how this story has played out in the past. Dallas has only won three of their last 13 playoff contests, dating back to their Divisional Round loss to the Panthers back in 1996.
Despite their lack of playoff success as of late, the people at the Dallas Fort-Worth Airport were feeling pretty confident heading into the weekend. So confident, in fact, that they’re already offering tissues to 49ers fans for their plane ride home to the San Francisco.
Dallas enters Sunday’s game as three-point favorites, but these two teams seem to be more evenly match than even the spread suggests. Most analysts seem split on who will take this battle of former rivals, but one thing’s for sure: If it’s the Niners who emerge victorious, the DFW Airport should expect to encounter some rowdy Bay Area residents on their way out of town Sunday night.
