Dak Prescott has come under a barrage of criticism for his overwhelmingly poor performance against the San Francisco 49ers.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott finished 14-of-24 for 153 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. The 49ers defense sacked Prescott three times and also forced a fumble. Prescott’s quarterback rating of 51.6 was his lowest all season, as the 49ers jumped out to an early 21-7 lead and never looked back.
This was supposed to be the game where the Cowboys showed the world they are a real Super Bowl contender and they fell flat on their face yet again.
Prescott has since been called out by both fans and pundits for his poor showing. Donte Whitner was particularly critical as the former NFL safety ripped into the QB.
“Dak Prescott sucks… period,” began Whitner during a live TV broadcast after the game. “We’ve talked so much about Dak Prescott being a top-tier quarterback…I don’t see it. I see them trying to cover up for what he lacks: a lot of quick throws, cutting half of the field off, and giving him easy throws.
“Other that he’s not a quarterback that can drop off and really take advantage of a defense and carve it up”. And today we’ve seen that. The 49ers defense makes him look like a tier four quarterback,” concluded Whitner.
Prescott was benched during the fourth quarter of his team’s 42-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football. He took a seat midway through the fourth quarter and was replaced by backup Cooper Rush.

This was the Cowboys’ second loss in their past three games as they were shocked when the Arizona Cardinals also upset them 28-16 in Week 3. They would rebound in Week 4 with a 38-3 victory over the New England Patriots, but once again, it was against a team with an inferior quarterback.
Now sitting at 3-2, the Cowboys are losing ground in the NFC East race. The 5-0 Philadelphia Eagles remained perfect.
To make matters worse, Prescott appeared to suffer a finger injury on his throwing hand, although he was able to continue playing after having it taped up.
The Cowboys will attempt to get back on track against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday.
