Dak Prescott has played at a high level in 2023 and he is set to be paid handsomely because of it.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has just one year remaining on the four-year, $160 million contract he signed back in 2021.
Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz reported on Thursday’s episode of Speak on FS1 that Prescott and the Cowboys are “highly motivated” to complete a contract extension that would put him among the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.
Schultz noted that Prescott is likely to get “between $55 and $60 million.”
“He’s going to get between $55 and $60 million,” Schultz told FS1 on Thursday. “We’ve already seen Joe Burrow get that 55 number. Dak Prescott has an opportunity to reset it. Both sides are highly motivated. Don’t forget, he has a no-trade and no-tag clause. He has all the leverage. There’s no question that Dak and Dallas, Jerry want to get that done.

As of right now, Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Burrow is currently the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history at $55 million per year.
“He’ll be right in that class. Over the last eight games, 25 total touchdowns, and two picks. He’s playing like an MVP. He has an opportunity to win a Super Bowl. And he is a Dallas Cowboys quarterback in the same sentence as Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman. We don’t see great quarterbacks go to free agency. That’s not going to happen.”
This season, Prescott is fifth among the league’s starters in passing yards with 3,892. He’s first in touchdown passes with 30 and he has seven interceptions. Last year, he ended the regular season with a career-high 15 interceptions.
He has a chance to improve his numbers as the Cowboys have two more games remaining on the schedule – at home against the Lions and on the road against the Commanders.
The team still has an outside chance of winning the NC East but they need the Philadelphia Eagles to lose.
