Before the Dallas Cowboys’ final preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Quarterback Dak Prescott decided to honor a long term teammate with his pregame outfit.
Prescott showed up to the AT&T Arena wearing the college jersey of former teammate and star Running Back Ezekiel Elliot. The Dallas Cowboys social media page would go on to share the photo on their sites with the caption “Brothers 4 Life”.
Elliot was cut by the Cowboys earlier this year after they refused to pay him a max extension to retain his services. The former Cowboy ran for over 8,000 yards and 68 touchdowns, and started his career with Prescott.
Prescott revealed he was “hurt” by Elliot’s release, as the two had grown close during their time in Arlington. One of the top Quarterback/ Running Back combinations of the modern era, the duo helped bring Dallas back to prominence with multiple playoff appearances.
Elliot had a productive year for the Cowboys, playing in 15 games and rushing for 876 yards and 12 touchdowns. Though Elliot was another name in the NFL’s controversial dilemma with Running Backs not getting max extensions, he would go on to sign with the New England Patriots for one year.
Though they play for separate teams in separate conferences, the bond between Prescott and Elliot is as strong as ever. The two will continue to support each other.
