Dak Prescott has been considered one of the NFL’s upper-echelon quarterbacks since his playing career began in 2016. He was drafted in the 4th round by the Cowboys, who suffered a pre-season injury to the starter, Tony Romo.
Since the end of the 2023 season, contract discussions have been up in the air between Prescott and the Cowboys. It’s not necessarily a reach to say Prescott may want to move on from America’s team, but fans seem to think Prescott is hinting that he may have made his decision.
Prescott hinted that he may be willing to sign a team-friendly contract with the Cowboys, stating that he isn’t “trying to be the highest-paid player in the league.” The 30-year-old signal-caller followed that up by saying he wants to put Dallas in “the best situation,” in an interview clip caught by Michael Gehlken.

Prescott Aiming To Help Cowboys Contend
Prescott and the Cowboys have been no stranger to contract controversy. The former NFL MVP is up for an extension in the following off-season and may be looking for a pay raise from the $40 million contract extension he signed in the 2021 off-season.
Prescott led the Cowboys to the 2023 NFL playoffs last season with an undefeated home record while putting up over 4,500 yards and 36 touchdowns with 105.9 QBR before taking the team to playoffs, where they would fall to the Green Bay Packers.
