The 2023 season will be a big one for Dak Prescott’s career with the Dallas Cowboys as well as his legacy.
Millions of fans can say they absolutely dislike the Dallas Cowboys and want to see them fail at every turn, but not many people have a strong dislike for Dak Prescott, because he is really a genuine guy.
Prescott, like any player, knows what he wants his legacy to be once he hangs up his cleats. On Thursday, Prescott revealed what that was and it made him emotional.
“As a player, as you just said, I want to win a Super Bowl,” said Prescott. “I want to be right there with those two guys (Hall of Fame quarterbacks Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman) and say I won a Super Bowl for this organization. And then as a person, I want to be a hell of a player, they say he’s a great player, one of the best, Hall of Fame type player that when I’m done they can say he was that type of player but the person he was was way better.
“And really, as much as I hope I impact and inspire the people, a man my mom would be proud of.”
The two-time Pro Bowl selection lost his mother, Peggy, to cancer in 2013 when he was a quarterback at Mississippi State.
He established the Faith Fight Finish Foundation which endorses cancer research, mental health, and suicide prevention. Prescott’s foundation also honors his brother, Jace, who unfortunately committed suicide in 2020.
