On Tuesday, the Washington Commanders announced plans for the Sean Taylor Memorial unveiling in front of FedExField’s Section 132 and you could feel the excitement amongst the fan base and other fan bases around the league.
The “Sean Taylor Memorial” was a disaster as soon as they removed the cover from the glass case. The “memorial” looks like an Under Armour mannequin and not the statue that everybody thought was coming. The glass-enclosed gear stood up in mannequin form drew ire on social media for being mismatched and not what many were expecting.
Dak Prescott’s brother was one of many to give his opinion on it, and just like the others, he was not happy about it.
“WTF is this. How are you so disrespectful, while trying to show respect?”
During the game, the players wore No. 21 decals on their helmets vs the Falcons, and Taylor’s daughter, Jackie, helped launch the limited-edition Sean Taylor Legacy Project merchandise. All proceeds of the merchandise will benefit gun violence prevention initiatives, and Jackie was even introduced as the Commanders’ honorary captain for the game.
