The Dallas Cowboys’ organization and its fans are tired of being reminded that they last won the Super Bowl in the 1995 season. Well, Sunday’s NFC Divisional Round loss to the San Francisco 49ers means that the streak will last at least another year.
Dallas’ offense struggled mightily against the NFL’s best defense. Dak Prescott threw two interceptions, and the high-powered Cowboys offense could only muster 12 total points — six days after dropping 31 on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Prescott’s Cowboys and the fans will keep hearing about the franchise’s near-30-year struggle in getting over the Divisional Round hump. When he spoke to reporters after the game, Prescott made a bold promise to Cowboys Nation.
Not only that, but Prescott also vowed to be better with his ball control after throwing two interceptions.
This is the third time the Cowboys have reached the Divisional Round under Prescott. They lost on a last-second field goal to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in 2016, Prescott’s rookie year. Two seasons later, they fell to the eventual NFC Champion Los Angeles Rams on the road.
