Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is approaching the March free-agency period without a new contract, but he remains “confident” a deal will get done with the franchise.
Prescott recently had a sit-down interview with ESPN’s Sage Steele and stated both sides will has out a long-term agreement while adding money isn’t the only thing he is looking for:
“There’s a lot of things that have to come into play when you’re talking about a contract. Never just look at the money, never just look at what people see or the attention-grabber. There’s a lot of details to it. There’s people that know that handle that, so I’m leaving that up to my agent and I have all the confidence in both sides.”
He was then asked if the season was stressful because of the ongoing contract talks.
“I can’t say it was stressful, I didn’t give it any thought. I controlled the things I could control. I can’t say I wasn’t disappointed or there weren’t things about it that didn’t set right or feel right, but the way that I play the game, the way that I approach my every day, the contact had no effect on it.”
Prescott is later asked about being franchise tagged:
“It is what it is.”

Steele then followed that up by asking if being franchise tagged changes things:
“It does [change things], but I don’t give it thought. I don’t give it thought, but once that becomes real, once that time comes, I’ll obviously have that conversation with my agent, with my team and we’ll come up with a plan. But until then, I can’t let it weight on me.”

In 2019, Prescott set career highs in passing yards (4,902) and touchdowns (30), but the team couldn’t capitalize off starting 3-0 and ended up being 8-8 and missing the postseason.
