The New York Jets may be coming off a loss, but it was one of those good losses they could build on as Zach Wilson had the best game he has had in his young career.
The Jets will officially be without one top player in their next game.
D.J. Reed was not cleared from the concussion protocol Friday, as was expected, and will not play Sunday against the Broncos. The Jets had already ruled out Brandin Echols with a hamstring injury earlier in the week.
Reed had been a perfect 21-for-21 since signing a free-agent contract with the New York Jets in 2022. The veteran cornerback has not missed a start and now that streak will end at the worst time.
“DJ, he has not passed his protocol, so he will be out,” said Saleh.
Reed finished his first year in New York with 12 passes defended, one interception, 80 tackles, and a forced fumble.

In his second season so far, Reed has played 98 percent of the defensive snaps while making 28 tackles.
With Reed and Hall out, the Jets will have to figure out how to set their lineup for Sunday. It will be very interesting to see how the Jets put this puzzle together going up against the Broncos wide receivers.
Third-year cornerback Bryce Hall will likely see a significant increase in workload for the time being.
