Kobe Bryant, his daughter GiGi, and 3 others were simply on their to a travel basketball game when tragedy struck and the helicopter they were in went down and killed everybody on board.
The helicopter crash happened in Calabasas, California.
Shortly after the news hit social media, it made its way to the NFL as the AFC and NFC got ready to play in the Pro Bowl. Before the game, a moment of silence was held as fans could be heard chanting his name.
Kobe won five NBA titles in his time with the Lakers, as well as two Olympic gold medals playing for the United States. Now fourth on the NBA’s all-time scoring list with 33,643 points, Bryant won two NBA Finals MVP awards and one NBA regular-season MVP nod in 2008.
The crash comes one day after Bryant was passed by Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James for third place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
