During the Chiefs’ loss to the Lions on Thursday night, one of the biggest storylines was one Chiefs player getting away with blatant cheating.
Chiefs’ lineman Jawaan Taylor was able to line up seemingly illegally throughout the night. Kansas City’s veteran right tackle appeared to set up behind the rest of the Chiefs’ offensive line, but it wasn’t called for most of the game.
When he was flagged for a false start, Collinsworth couldn’t ignore it anymore as he ripped Taylor for being so far out of position that he was practically playing slot wide receiver.
“There you see Jawaan Taylor playing slot receiver finally got busted on one,” Collinsworth said.
Taylor, who spent the first four years of his career with the Jaguars, has somehow been able to carve out a nice career by finding loopholes in the rules that give him slight advantages. That includes his appearing to move slightly before the center snaps the ball.
Unlike his time in Jacksonville, it is no longer hidden and it will be quite interesting to see how things play out.

The Chiefs paid big bucks to add right tackle Jawaan Taylor this year and he is doing his job, although many think he is getting away with murder. Taylor also appeared to be getting away with pre-snap movement, consistently shifting his right leg before the snap.
If all offensive linemen start doing this, then refs cannot call penalties for them if they won’t do it to Taylor.
Even with the benefit of avoiding calls, the Chiefs struggled with the ball in their hands Thursday, falling 21-20 as star tight end Travis Kelce sat out due to injury. His absence was notable as Kadarius Toney dropped three crucial passes, none bigger than the one that led to a pick-six that would ultimately decide the game.
