NBC’s Cris Collinsworth threw major shade at the struggling Los Angeles Chargers by offering an embarrassing statistic about their run blocking this season.
During Saturday night’s broadcast of the Chargers-Buffalo Bills game, Collinsworth stated that his website, Pro Football Focus, has quarterback Justin Herbert graded as the Chargers’ best run blocker this year:
The Chargers entered tonight’s game with the 27th-ranked rushing offense, having averaged just 95.7 points per game. Obviously, it’s hard to blame the running backs much when the offensive linemen are blocking at atrocious levels.
Obviously, losing Pro Bowl center Corey Linsley for most of the season with a heart injury hasn’t helped matters. That doesn’t mean that Herbert should be their top graded run blocker, though.
