We were all thinking it. And apparently, so too was Cris Collinsworth.
Many seemed to feel that the Philadelphia Eagles and their head coach, Doug Pederson, were purposely tanking when they took out Jalen Hurts for Nate Sudfeld in a close game against Washington on Sunday night. And they were joined by the NBC color commentator and former NFL wideout, who openly called out the Eagles’ decision.
You can actually hear the disgust in Cris Collinsworth’s voice as he says he “couldn’t have done what Philadelphia did.”
While the Eagles were merely playing for draft positioning, the Giants’ playoff hopes were riding on them, as a Philly win would allow the GMen to move ahead of Washington for the NFC East title.
Hurts was pulled after failing to convert a 4th & goal situation late in the third quarter from the Washington 4-yard line. It was yet another questionable call from Pederson to go for it in the first place, as the team was trailing by just three points, 17-14.
