The NFL season officially started on Thursday night as Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs hosted the Detroit Lions. NBC, which usually only airs Sunday Night Football, got the first game of the year, despite it being played on a Thursday. That means Cris Collinsworth and Mike Tirico were calling the game.
Fans already knew what to expect from Collinsworth and they absolutely hated it.
For many NFL fans, Collinsworth is not someone they want to listen to.
Throughout the game, fans became increasingly annoyed with Collinsworth anytime he said something. The anger toward him was evident on X, formally known as Twitter.

The Kansas City Chiefs put up a valiant effort, but the lack of having Travis Kelce hurt them in the passing game as Kadarius Toney registered three drops, one of them leading to a pick-six that ultimately cost the Chiefs the opening night victory.
The Chiefs have even bigger problems on their hand as Travis Kelce may be out for much longer than previously thought. I bet the team is kicking themselves that they did not go after DeAndre Hopkins this offseason.
The Lions won the game 21-20.
