A crazy fan theory claiming NFL referee Alex Moore could be a time traveler has gone viral in the wake of the Ravens’ win over the 49ers on Monday night.
Moore was the ref who tripped Lamar Jackson early in the first quarter of the game, with his fall resulting in a safety that cost Baltimore two points and got the internet to suggest that the game was “rigged.” Jackson and the Ravens would overcome the early deficit to win 33-19 and claim the league’s best record.
It’s since been pointed out that the three previous teams that beat the Niners all saw their starting quarterbacks go out with season-ending injuries.
The Browns lost Deshaun Watson to a shoulder injury while Minnesota’s Kirk Cousins went down with a torn Achilles. Bengals QB Joe Burrow remains out with a wrist injury. All three of these players required surgery that ensures they won’t play again until next season, though Brown didn’t feature against the 49ers.
The weird thing about that is San Francisco scored 17 points in all three of those losses. Had it not been for that early safety, they would have probably lost 33-17 instead of 33-19. So did Moore travel back in time to make sure that the 49ers curse didn’t affect Jackson?
Some fans seem to think so, at least jokingly.

Jackson addressed the untimely collision after Monday’s win, revealing the official apologized to him following the costly fall.
“He came back and apologized, like, ‘My bad,’ but it’s all good,” he said. “It’s all good. But those two points helped them out a lot.”
Who knows? Maybe he’s the one those two points helped out.
