The Dallas Cowboys finally got star running back Ezekiel Elliott the contract he wanted and he is now on-board to play during the 2019 season.
While Dak Prescott is expected to play this season regardless of his contract situation, the team is still trying their best to get him an extension as well.
Cowboys COO Stephen Jones was asked Friday if he is still having conversations with the agents for quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Amari Cooper.
“In general, I would say yes on Dak. I would say very limited on Amari for a range of reasons that will eventually get worked out, and we can proceed with him as well,” Jones said. “I’d say the dialogue has been good and we’re still holding out hope we can figure out how to come up with a deal by the game on Sunday.”
He was then asked if there is a deadline to do it by Sunday, and if it isn’t done, will they shut down negotiations until the offseason?
“No, we’re open for business. I know sometimes the players don’t care to do that. But we can obviously juggle that and do that … would be fine with doing that. It’s really up to the player and their representatives to determine what their deadlines are.”
