Dallas Cowboys’ superstar linebacker Micah Parsons is the early front-runner for the Defensive Player of the Year Award, having already racked up three sacks and one forced fumble in just two games.
Dealing with Parsons is nightmare fuel enough for opposing NFL offenses. Now imagine if opposing defenses had to start game planning for Parsons as well?
During his appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show”, the third-year linebacker revealed that head coach Mike McCarthy has given him some reps at tight end.
“Big Mike actually let me get a couple scout team reps at tight end,” Parsons said. “I probably shouldn’t have spilled the tea.”
Colorado Buffaloes’ star Travis Hunter has turned heads with his all-world play as both a wide receiver and a cornerback under head coach Deion Sanders. Speaking of Sanders, “Prime Time” himself was far more than the league’s No. 1 shutdown cornerback during his playing days.
Sanders was also a special teams return man who occasionally played wide receiver, recording 60 catches for 784 yards and three touchdowns.

Could Parsons follow the footsteps of this Cowboys’ legend and take some snaps on offense? Only time will tell, but a defensive player of Parsons’ caliber would certainly be fun to watch on the other side of the ball.
And as McAfee noted, Mike Vrabel and J.J. Watt are among the former great NFL defensive players who also played offensive snaps, even recording touchdown receptions of their own.
Parsons and the Cowboys will try to improve to 3-0 on the year when they visit the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday.
