The Dallas Cowboys were hit with quite the scare today as defensive end Sam Williams was taken to a local hospital following a car accident.
The star rookie was involved in a two-vehicle accident at approximately 2:15pm, following the Cowboys’ practice. The accident occurred near the team’s practice facility, as a black Infiniti that was heading northbound hit Williams’ black Corvette, which was headed southbound. The Infiniti driver was attempting to make a left hand turn when it struck the Cowboys rookie’s car.
The drivers of both vehicles were taken to a local hospital, but it was said to be “mainly as a precaution.”
The police are still determining whether they will ticket the driver of the Infiniti. No word yet on whether or not this will affect Williams’ availability for Saturday’s NFC East battle against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Sam Williams was taken in the second-round with the 56th overall pick by the Cowboys in this year’s draft. He’s been having himself a very productive rookie season, racking up 20 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries in 13 games.
Prior to entering the NFL, Williams was a stud at the college level, breaking the Ole Miss single season sack record with 12.5 in 2021. It was enough to earn him First-Team All-SEC honors.
