The Dallas Cowboys are understood to be among the favorites to land one of the best running backs in the NFL during the offseason.
While the Cowboys were not a bad running team in 2023, they weren’t great either and, with Ezekiel Elliot no longer around and Tony Pollard taking over as a starter, they had a hard time converting on short-yardage plays.
Of course, that’s not why they lost to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round. Still, they could have used a bit of balance as defenses expected them to focus on the passing game, which made them easier to prepare for.
Pollard might be the one who pays for the Cowboys’ shortcomings, and there are rumors that the team could let him walk in free agency.
There’s also talk of the team looking to the NFL Draft for his replacement, with Blake Corum thought to be the target. However, they’re among the favorites to sign New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley when he hits free agency in the offseason, based on the odds at EmpireStakes.com.

Dallas is thought to be among eight potential destinations for Barkley and is tied with the New England Patriots in seventh place on +1200 odds.
Barkley’s form did drop last season, following an offseason in which he threatened to sit out the entire campaign. He was eventually signed to a one-year deal and, having gone to the Pro Bowl the previous term, struggled with an ankle injury that kept him out for three games.
He finished with 962 rushing yards on 247 carries, with an average of 3.9 yards per carry.
The Giants are the outright favorites where his future is concerned, while the Chicago Bears are favored to land him if he leaves New York.
