Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw some shade at Jerry Jones following the owner’s comments over the contract status of superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Lamb is still holding out in hopes of securing a new contract, but Jones turned heads on Thursday when he informed reporters that he feels no “urgency” to get an extension done with Lamb, per Jon Machota of The Athletic:
Dak Prescott spoke to reporters following Thursday’s practice, and he couldn’t help but take a humorous shot at Jones over his “urgency” comments on Lamb, per David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.
“I can tell you I got a sense of urgency for it to happen,” Prescott said.

Dak Prescot is entering the final season of a four-year, $160 million pact he signed with Dallas in the 2021 offseason. His contract contains no-trade and no-tag clauses, meaning Prescott has the option to test free agency next year if he wishes.
Lamb has one year remaining on his rookie deal. He stands to easily land over $100 million on his next contract, though the only question now is if the deal will come from Dallas or somebody else.

Both Prescott and Lamb turned in career years in 2023. The former finished second in MVP voting (behind only Lamar Jackson) after completing 69.5 percent of pass attempts for 4,516 yards, 36 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Lamb led the NFL with 135 receptions and had 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns (all career highs). Despite a third straight 12-win season, Dallas’ 2023 campaign ended with another disappointing loss — this time a 16-point defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round.
