Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is trending on social media following the jaw-dropping Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis blockbuster trade that transpired just after midnight on Sunday.
Just after 12:00 a.m. EST, ESPN’s Shams Charania announced that Doncic had been traded to the Lakers in a three-team deal involving the Utah Jazz. Los Angeles also got Maxi Kleber, Markieff Morris, with the Mavs getting Davis, Max Christie and the Lakers’ 2029 first-round pick.
As for Utah, they got Jalen Hood-Schifino and a pair of 2025 second-round picks.
Do a quick search anywhere on Google or social media, and you’ll see that Mavericks GM Nico Harrison isn’t exactly the most popular man in Dallas right now. But if you type in the name of the Cowboys’ owner on X/Twitter, you’ll see that the Doncic trade actually benefits Mr. Jones in the most bizarre way:

Jones will tell you that any publicity is good publicity for him, so we’re sure he’s beyond thrilled to be trending on X following the Doncic trade…even if it’s not for the most flattering reason.
ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reported that Dallas traded Doncic because of concerns and frustrations with his conditioning and that they were hesitant about giving him a supermax extension in the summer.
Jerry Jones Never Made A Trade As Bad As The One Nico Harrison Just Committed
Jones certainly isn’t popular among Cowboys fans these days, but the 82-year-old as at least never made a trade as bad as the one the Mavericks just completed. Hate on Jones all you want, but he never traded Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, Deion Sanders, Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb or Zack Martin in their primes.
