The Dallas Cowboys will be without one of their key offensive stars for Sunday’s highly-anticipated Week 16 clash with the Miami Dolphins.
Per Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys have ruled out Pro Bowl offensive tackle Tyron Smith for Sunday’s contest with a back injury. Gehlken added that Chuma Edoga will start in place of Smith.
The eight-time Pro Bowler and future Hall of Famer has missed three games this season to injury. Despite that, Smith has pieced together another excellent season, with Pro Football Focus grading him at 83.9 on the year.
Per PFF, Smith hasn’t allowed a single sack on 717 snaps played, and he’s only committed two penalties.
The Cowboys (10-4) are tied with the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC East crown. Their season series is over (they split it 1-1), but Dallas currently holds the tiebreaker because of more wins in the division (4-1 vs. Philly being 3-1).
