The Dallas Cowboys have been eliminated for several days now, but the pain still remains as they continue to watch the team that eliminated them advance further into the playoffs. The entire organization is being heavily criticized for the loss, but the subpar play of quarterback Dak Prescott might be the hottest topic of discussion.
Hall of Fame wide receiver Drew Pearson didn’t hold back his frustrations regarding Prescott’s performance during an interview with The Zach Gelb Show.
“I’m just wavering now with Dak,” Pearson said on The Zach Gelb Show. “I saw regression as the season went on — that’s a disappointment at $40 million a year. It’s not about the money. It’s about that player playing the position and not improving, declining in a year where we started out so well. … We almost had the NFC East won in the first seven weeks. Then we started going downhill. A lot of it was on the offensive side of the ball, and a lot of it was predicated by the play of the quarterback.”
What makes things so frustrating is that with Prescott under center this season, the Cowboys were first in total yards per game and second in passing yards per game.
After his major injury in 2020, the team came in with major high hopes for 2021 and while it started great, it ended as a massive disappointment in the playoffs this year. As you saw, that decision for him to QB draw with just seconds to play with no timeouts doomed to the team to this fiery offseason. Prescott will potentially lose offensive coordinator Kellen Moore this offseason so the Cowboys offense for next year will be dependent on who is calling the plays for them.
Prescott completed 23 of 42 passes for 254 yards, one passing touchdown, four rushes for 27 yards, rushing touchdown and one interception in loss to the 49ers.
Who knows what will happen from here.
