Earlier today it was reported by Adam Schefter that talks between the Dallas Cowboys and Ezekiel Elliott’s representatives had intensified, with hopes that the two sides could get a deal done by this weekend.
At this point we’ve heard just about every possible rumor about Zeke’s holdout, from “it’s about to end,” to “he could miss several regular season games.”
However, the Cowboys’ roster moves on cut-down day seem to indicate that there could be some legitimate substance to the latest Zeke rumors:
I highly doubt the Cowboys would leave only two running backs on their active roster if they didn’t strongly believe they’d be acquiring another one in the coming days.
Sure, this could mean that Jerry Jones and company plan on signing one of the recently released running backs, like Elijah McGuire, LeSean McCoy, or Jeff Wilson Jr. But it just seems much more likely, given the recent news, that the Cowboys are confident Zeke will be back on the field with them very soon.
