In a recent interview, Dallas Cowboys Cornerback Jourdan Lewis opened up about recovering from a serious injury and the toll it took on his mental health.
Lewis, 28, suffered a Lisfranc injury in the 2022 NFL season, which saw him miss the rest of the regular season and playoffs. During this time, he was dealing with mental health issues that saw him withdraw and become unresponsive to texts. Following this, he revealed that his teammates stepped up to support him.
Lewis’ teammates, coaches, and members of the front office showed solidarity with him by showing up to him home and uniting with the Cornerback. He admits that seeing the team “fighting or him” made it that much easier to push through.
Amazing story out of Dallas that teammates show this kind of support for their brother. The sport of football, though violent, is a team built on unity and teamwork, and to see that the everyone was backing Lewis is a moment any NFL fan can be proud of.
Lewis returned from injury and made Dallas’ 53 man roster. After seeing his teammates fight for him, he knows he can step up.
