Dak Prescott is looking to become the highest-paid player in football, and the team seems to be set on making that happen.
The deal hasn’t gone through for both sides because the most significant issue is the length of the contract.
Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan reported on Saturday that the Cowboys have offered Prescott $35 million per year over five years, and that would effectively place him even with Russell Wilson as the highest-paid players in the NFL.
Very good offer, but Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports noted Dak is looking to commit to a four-year deal. Neither side seems to be budging right now.
Both sides still have two months to iron out their deal so there is no reason to rush to get it out right now. Prescott is 26-years-old and likely wants to be eligible for free agency again when he is 30, which means at least one more good deal before his time is up in the league.
