Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has completed a head coaching job interview with a rival NFC team.
On Wednesday, the Carolina Panthers announced that they have interviewed Quinn for their head coaching vacancy. The former Atlanta Falcons head coach just completed his third season as the Cowboys’ DC under Mike McCarthy.
As noted by Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News, Quinn was also scheduled to interview with the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday. Quinn has interviews scheduled with the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders on Thursday, and with the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday.
The only two teams with head coaching vacancies that Quinn isn’t interviewing with? The Falcons, his former employer, and the Las Vegas Raiders.
Quinn was the Seahawks’ defensive coordinator under Pete Carroll for the 2013 and 2014 seasons, winning a Super Bowl championship in the former year. Quinn was then hired as Atlanta’s new head coach in 2015, and he stayed there before getting first in the midst of the 2020 season.

But Quinn rebuilt his stock as a coach by again cementing himself as one of the best defensive minds in the game under McCarthy. Dallas has fielded a top-10 scoring defense in each of Quinn’s three years as the DC.
Many wondered if Quinn’s stock took a hit after the Cowboys’ miserable performance in Sunday’s stunning 48-32 Wild Card Round loss to the Green Bay Packers. Obviously, it hasn’t fallen enough for him to at least be interviewed by five times.
