With the way the deal is structured, Dak Prescott essentially has two years remaining on his contract with the Dallas Cowboys.
In 2021, the Cowboys handed their star quarterback a four-year pact worth $160 million. Prescott has responded by leading Dallas to consecutive 12-win seasons, though they still have yet to advance past the Divisional Round with No. 4 at the helm.
If Prescott fails to lead Dallas on at least one deep playoff run over the next two years, there will be calls for Jerry Jones and company to make a change at quarterback.
On “Good Morning Football”, former NFL cornerback Jason McCourty brought up the possibility of Dallas moving on from Prescott next year, and he shared a list of the top 2024 free agent quarterbacks.
During the segment, Kyle Brandt floated the idea of replacing Prescott with Kirk Cousins, calling it “an equal swap…same player.” Jamie Erdahl seemed to agree with the suggestion, noting, “That would be something the Cowboys would do, though.”
Like Prescott, Cousins has consistently put up Pro Bowl-like numbers throughout his career. But like Prescott, Cousins has been heavily criticized for a lack of postseason success (a 1-3 record, Prescott is 2-4).

Cousins is entering the final year of his contract with the Minnesota Vikings. The club decided not to extend Cousins this offseason even though he led them to a 13-win season and NFC North division crown two years ago.
Needless to say, the pressure is on both Cousins and Prescott to deliver in 2023. Otherwise, one or both men could find themselves wearing new uniforms in 2024.
