Brett Maher has had a terrible 2019 campaign. He has missed 10 missed field goals this year, including a 42-yard failure in a 31-24 loss to the Bears on Thursday that also included a botched kickoff.
Following the game, Maher issues a tone-deaf statement about his struggles, claiming, “I felt like I did a good job staying in my lane this week,” he said. “I felt like I hit every ball pretty well tonight. I’ll put my head on the pillow tonight feeling good about what I did this week and moving forward.”
He certainly will be moving forward, but with another franchise as the team cut him on Monday.
Soon after the announcement, it was reported by Calvin Watkins that Maher had just visited a hospital to see sick kids, when he got back on the bus, arrived back at the facility, only to find out he was cut.
“Dirty business. Brett Maher went to the hospital visits today spent time with some sick kids. Got on the bus with some teammates and after arriving at The Star he was cut.”
