Antonio Callaway can’t seem to get out of his own way when it comes to staying out of trouble and trying to reach his full potential in the NFL.
Over the weekend, the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver was arrested in Miami for driving with a suspended license. Apparently, he was a passenger in a car, but after providing his identification, he would be placed under arrest for a warrant for driving with a suspended license.
In response, the team has now released him after he was signed to the Cowboys’ practice squad last November but did not dress for a regular-season game. He was competing for one of the final wide receiver spots but had not practiced during the last two organized team activities open to the media.
Callaway has not caught a pass in a regular-season game since 2020.
To replace him, the Cowboys signed wide receiver Tyron Johnson, who was one of seven players the club worked out Monday.
Johnson, a 27-year-old out of Oklahoma State, went undrafted in 2019 and has one start on his résumé over 26 game appearances. He has 23 career receptions for 422 yards and three touchdowns, most of them coming with the Chargers in 2020.

Johnson has also logged stints with Houston (three times), Buffalo, Carolina, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Cincinnati, and San Francisco.
Five years into his NFL career, it appears Callaway has run out of chances.
