Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey needs three field goals against the Washington Commanders on Sunday to break an impressive 20-year record.
As noted by the ML Football X/Twitter account, Aubrey can break Mike VanderJagt’s record for most field goals in a season WITHOUT A MISS he goes 3-for-3 on Sunday. VanderJagt went 37-for-37 on his kicks in the 2003 season:
The 28-year-old Aubrey has made all 35 of his kicks this season, and he’s 44-for-47 on extra point attempts. That 100 percent succession rate includes a ridiculous 9-for-9 on field goal attempts of 50-plus yards.
The St. Louis, Missouri native was previously a soccer standout at Notre Dame, joining Toronto FC of Major League Soccer in 2017. He later joined Bethlehem Steel FC of the USL before giving American football a try in 2019.
Aubrey was on the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL from 2022 to 2023 before signing with the Cowboys last July. Fast forward six months later, and he’s suddenly this-close to setting a special NFL record.
