Even if the Dallas Cowboys’ streak of postseason failures continues, AT&T Stadium appears guaranteed to host some brand of championship football in the next three years.
British tabloid The Sun has reported that the Cowboys home stadium will host the championship finale to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the capper to a North American soccer showcase that will work through the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The tournament will take place in 16 cities throughout North America including the Metroplex, Monterrey, and Vancouver.
“SunSport has been told that the home of the Dallas Cowboys has beaten New York’s MetLife Stadium to host the showpiece,” Lipton wrote.
“The Texan city will also be the main base for Fifa — rather than the other options of New York and Miami.”
Following the announcement, many fans took to social media to joke about the stadium finally hosting a championship match since the NFL team can’t seem to deliver it.
