Judging by his latest social media activity, it looks like Courtland Sutton is preparing to pack his bags and find a new home.
On Instagram, Sutton posted a cryptic message that indicates he’s leaving the Broncos. Here’s the text of his post:
“Broncos country I’m very grateful to be able to have finished off another season here in Denver. Unfortunately we weren’t able to accomplish our main goal. I’m still grateful for all my teammates and support staff that have been riding with me all season. I know all things happen for a reason and I trust my Gods plans over everything including whatever is next for me. Just know I gave everything to this team and organization every time I stepped on that field! All Love 14 🤟🏾”
The last two sentences especially indicate that Sutton is about to leave the Broncos. A release feels unlikely given that he’d carry quality value on the trade market, but perhaps Sutton and the Broncos have agreed that a fresh start is best for both side.
It’s widely expected that the Broncos will be moving on from quarterback Russell Wilson, who was benched for the final two games because of his refusal to adjust the injury guarantees in his contract.

So with Wilson likely on his way out, perhaps the Broncos want to give the bulk of the offense a facelift. After all, the Broncos just went a fourth straight season without a 1,000-yard rusher or pass-catcher.
Sutton and fellow wide receiver Jerry Jeudy were widely mentioned in trade rumors throughout 2023, but GM George Paton decided to stick with the duo. In 2021, Sutton and the Broncos agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $608 million.
In 16 games for the Broncos this year, Sutton hauled in 59 receptions for 772 yards and a career-high 10 touchdowns. His best season came in 2019, when Sutton racked up 72 catches for 1,112 and six touchdowns.
