It’s being rumored that the New York Jets could trade one of their wide receivers this Saturday.
According to the NFL Rumors Twitter account, Corey Davis, whose name has been in trade talk for several weeks, is expected to be moved on the third day of the NFL Draft.
Earlier this week, Jets general manager Joe Douglas insisted Davis was an important member of the team but also did not close the door on a potential trade as he admitted football is a business.
“When we talk about great teammates, Corey is a great teammate,” Douglas said on Tuesday, per NFL.com. “Corey is selfless, Corey is an unbelievable worker, he’s a great professional for some of our young guys to look up to and model their approach, their work ethic to this game. And look, we all know that there’s a business aspect to football, but Corey is a valued member of this team and this franchise.”
The wideout’s impact on NY’s finances is probably the biggest reason he’s constantly brought up in trade talks, while it has even been suggested that he could be cut. Davis signed a three-year deal worth $37.5 million when he joined the Jets as a free agent in 2021, having gotten drafted fifth overall by the Tennessee Titans in 2017.
The 28-year-old is set to make $10.5 million next season and carries a cap hit of $11.16 million. The Jets stand to save that $10.5 million if he’s cut before June.

Admittedly, Davis hasn’t been very productive in his first two seasons with the Jets, registering 1,028 receiving yards and six touchdowns since joining the team. He’s also managed just 22 games due to various injuries.
