A former NFL general manager suggested the idea of the Seattle Seahawks trading for a four-time Pro Bowler to bolster an already scary-good offense.
The Seattle offense is led by 2022 Comeback Player of the Year Geno Smith, 1,000-yard receivers D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett and 1,000-yard rusher Kenneth Walker III. On top of that, Seattle added explosive Ohio State wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba with the No. 20 selection in this year’s draft.
But what if Seattle added one more star to round out their potent offense?
At The 33rd Team, former Minnesota Vikings’ GM and Tennessee Titans’ team president Jeff Diamond listed Atlanta Falcons’ star Cordarrelle Patterson as a potential trade candidate. Diamond also mentioned the Seahawks as a potential suitor for Patterson:
“The Seattle Seahawks could bolster the run game and kickoff returns as they try to unseat the 49ers atop the NFC West. The Denver Broncos had a league-worst 17.5 yards per kickoff return in 2022, and the Miami Dolphins were the second-worst at 18.9 yards per kickoff return. The Broncos and Dolphins could use his running skills, too.”
Patterson has been named to four Pro Bowls as a special teams returner, but he has emerged as a playmaking weapon in Arthur Smith’s offense since joining Atlanta in 2021. That year, he put up 1,166 yards of offense (618 rushing, 548 receiving) and 11 touchdowns.

Though he missed four games last season, Patterson rushed for 695 yards and eight touchdowns, also career bests. On top of that, of course, he’s consistently among the NFL leaders in kick return yards.
Patterson would certainly be an enticing fit in Seattle. He would do his damage as a kick returner while also serving as a do-it-all playmaker in an offense loaded with stars. So if Atlanta makes Patterson available via trade, the Seahawks should definitely see if there’s a potential deal there.
