Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has delivered an update on wide receiver Cooper Kupp ahead of the team’s Week 1 fixture against the Seattle Seahawks.
According to McVay, the player is still day to day with his hamstring injury and is visiting specialists in Minnesota to get some clarity on the issue.
McVay hopes to have more information by this Wednesday as it pertains to the WR’s status for the game against Seattle on Sunday after Kupp hurt his hamstring in training camp and then suffered a setback during recovery.
“You want to be able to just take it a day at a time,” McVay said on Monday, per The Athletic.
“We’re hopeful that this will give some clarity once he goes and talks to these doctors. It doesn’t fall in alignment with some of the things that have ended up occurring relative to the standard strains of the hamstring just based on what’s occurred over the last month and a half.”
It’s been a pretty troubling spell for Kupp, who needed surgery after an ankle injury last year. The player then missed spring OTAs so he could spend time with his wife as they welcomed a new baby.
He was able to begin training camp normally but felt a “tug” in his hamstring during an individual red zone drill and has been sidelined ever since.
