For the first time in 11 months, the Los Angeles Rams will have superstar wide receiver Cooper Kupp back on the field.
Per Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Rams’ head coach Sean McVay confirmed that Kupp will make his season debut in Sunday’s Week 5 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles. Kupp missed the Rams’ first four games recovering from a hamstring injury.
Despite the absence of Kupp and a grueling four-game schedule to open the season, the Rams are 2-2 and in the running for a playoff spot. Kupp will now get to work with rookie sensation Puka Nacua, who has 39 catches for 501 yards and a touchdown through LA’s first four games.
Kupp missed the Rams’ final eight games last season due to an ankle injury, and the offense was practically non-existent without him. But the Matthew Stafford-led group has averaged a stellar 24.5 points per game thus far in 2023, and there’s no telling how much scarier this offense will get with Kupp returning to the field.
The 30-year-old Kupp pieced together one of the greatest seasons in NFL history two years ago. He led the league in catches (145), receiving yards (1,947) and receiving touchdowns (16) en route to Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Kupp was also named Super Bowl 56 MVP in the Rams’ victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Kupp caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Stafford with 1:25 remaining.
