Terrible news for the Los Angeles Rams, as they will now be without star wide receiver Cooper Kupp for at least the first four weeks of the 2023 NFL season.
It was announced today that the Rams will place the former Super Bowl MVP on injured reserve because of his nagging hamstring injury. As a result, he’ll miss games against the Seahawks, 49ers, Bengals and Colts.
It was previously reported that the Rams were considering moving Kupp to the IR, but there was still some hope that he could be back within the next four weeks.
That option is now out the door, as Sean McVay’s club will begin the season shorthanded as they look to bounce back following a disastrous 2022 campaign that saw them finish 5-12. With Kupp out, Van Jefferson is expected to take over as their top wide receiver.
Needless to say, that doesn’t bode well for Matthew Stafford and the Rams offense. Don’t be surprised if they’re out of it by the trade deadline and decide to deal Aaron Donald.
