NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wants to see one of the most controversial offensive plays eliminated as of next season.
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Goodell is in favor of banning the Philadelphia Eagles’ “Brotherly Shove.”
She reports:
“Though it will all come down to the voting, the most important opinion about the play may come from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. I was told by a league source that Goodell wants to see this play removed from the game permanently.”
The play will be the subject of heavy debate during the offseason and will be one of the main topics for discussion when the competition committee meets. The committee is made up of owners, general managers, and coaches from various teams but has no one from the Eagles.
As if that isn’t worrying enough for Philly, three of their divisional opponents – the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Commanders – are represented therein.

Goodell will need 24 votes to see the Eagles’ bespoke QB sneak prohibited. It’s probably the only thing that can stop it at this point.
