Washington Commanders fans will boast a significant presence at Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The NFC East rivals are vying for a trip to Super Bowl LIX and will square off at the latter’s Lincoln Financial Field in a fixture that has seen record-breaking ticket sales in secondary markets.
According to StubHub company data (H/T Philly Voice), around a third of the tickets sold via the platform were purchased from either D.C., Maryland, or Virginia.
“Because of the proximity, I don’t think that number is out of the norm,” StubHub spokesperson Adam Budelli said. “Washington fans sitting at home can decide to purchase tickets Saturday night and still be able to attend the game without any issues.”
As of late this week, the average ticket price for the game was $1,259 (without taxes and fees), which is around the price fans paid to enter the NFC Championship Game when the Eagles played the San Francisco 49ers at home two years ago. However, they’re going for a lot more on secondary platforms.
Washington Commanders Fans Haven’t Been Able To Do This For A While
Such opportunities haven’t come along very often for Washington fans. The Commanders haven’t made it that far in the playoffs since 1992, when they went on to beat the Buffalo Bills in the Super Bowl. They have clinched just seven playoff berths since then.

The team has come a long way in a short time under Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, who brought in Dan Quinn as head coach and made Jayden Daniels their starting quarterback after drafting him second overall last year.
Fans have every right to dream at the moment, but their team will be going up against the NFL’s best defense on Sunday.
The Eagles and Commanders played each other twice this season, splitting the series 1-1 with home wins.
Philly fans will be hoping that trend remains on Sunday.
