The Washington Commanders have added another quarterback to their roster following an injury to Jacoby Brissett.
While they’re going nowhere fast with two games left to go this season, the Commanders have opted to bring in Jake Fromm for extra depth.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the NFC side elevated the QB from their practice squad, where he has been for most of the season, as Brissett has been listed as questionable ahead of their game against the San Francisco 49ers with a hamstring injury.
Sam Howell is expected to start against the Niners on Sunday, having gotten benched in favor of Brissett in Week 16. The latter nearly pulled off a comeback win over the New York Jets on Sunday but the Commanders ended up losing 28-30.
Fromm, meanwhile, hasn’t played a single snap in two years and has had a difficult time in the NFL since being selected out of the fifth round in 2020. He will hope to see some action now that he’s back on an active roster.
