Carson Wentz may no longer be a member of the Indianapolis Colts, but the front office nor the players on the team can’t seem to get rid of that one year they had playing alongside him after a trade brought him there from Philadelphia.
The Indianapolis Colts turned the page on quarterback Carson Wentz one season after trading first and third-round picks for him. He was sent packing to the Washington Commanders for far less compensation.
The Colts have since acquired Matt Ryan and everybody seems to love him.
While delivering praise of Ryan, running back Nyheim Hines seemed to throw shots at his old QB. Hines said Ryan is “not missing the layups.”
Wentz had been criticized for overlooking the easier throws that opposing defenses were willing to give up.
“Every year, it’s all dependent on what the quarterback likes, his accuracy. Matt is checking all the boxes. It’s been like playing with Andrew (Luck) or Phillip (Rivers),” Hines continued.

Wide receiver Michael Pittman recently raved about Ryan’s accuracy. He believes the former MVP can pretty much hit any target.
“The ball is just right there, and you just turn and catch the ball. I mean, it just makes it easy,” Pittman said, via Kevin Hickey of USA Today. “Matt can pretty much put it wherever he wants.”
In his final season with the Falcons, Ryan had 3,968 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
Last season, Wentz led the AFC South squad to a 9-8 record while throwing for 3,563 yards, 27 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. A disappointing performance in the finale against Jacksonville, however, kept the Colts out of the playoffs and seemed to impact Wentz’s standing with the front office and head coach Frank Reich.
The 2022 season may be his final time to prove that he is a quality NFL starter in this league.
